The Cars 2 Lite app can be run on both iPads or iPhones and takes up 16.7 MB. This is on the larger side for most apps and will take a while to download. What you get though are some great graphics as the game takes you over three levels in three locations – the mysterious oil rig, the bridges of London and the streets of London.

The purpose of Cars2Lite is to race your car to a finish line while dodging all kinds of obstacles that get in your way. There are two basic types of control like all iPhone and iPad apps. You tap the screen to jump over object (if you double tap, you go higher) or tilt your device to maneuver your character round whatever the game puts in your way.

But it’s not just about dodging things – you also multiply your score by collecting power ups in the form of oil cans. Your health gets replenished with wrench pickups.

Cars2Lite has three levels. Once you’re proficient at those three levels you can upgrade to the full version of the game by paying 0.99c. You then get a more complex game and a bigger choice of characters.

As well as the game there is quite a bit of promotional content for the Cars2 film and links to other games.

With Cars2Lite you are getting a free app so there is a limit on the characters and locations in the game.

These two massive companies have global reach so it naturally they want to ensure that their products reach the widest audience possible.

After launching in California and then being put on general release throughout the Americas, Australia and Europe, there have been no further announcements as to whether the game will be released in Japanese or Mandarin.

Release of the film in Asia is scheduled for the end of July and August and will probably lead to additional languages being supported.
